We are not ready to let winter go just yet. Today we show off some heroes ready to brave the cold. Lúcio is know for his great dance moves. He is ready to show us he has them on the ice too. Mei is no stranger to the cold. No surprise she is ready for even the coldest expedition. Zarya was raised in Russian winters. She isn’t about to let a little permafrost slow her down. You can look forward to many more cool finds.
With so many great skins coming out we take some time to show off some of the latest additions.
Coming in slightly after the patch started hitting beta servers, we’ve got some notes on what’s going on in this new build. Genji’s health is up, but his shuriken damage is down. Quick Melee doesn’t hit for as much, but we can use it more frequently. Bastion’s Ultimate mode is shorter. Hanzo’s Scatter Arrow doesn’t get to cheat anymore. ;P And Mei is being brought down a bit from the devastating ice goddess heights she started to hit after the last patch. Seriously guys, she went overboard. Overall, these are all pretty standard “beta is beta” changes, principally in the fine-tuning space of things, and having the added bonus of developer insights into why these changes are being made is a huge benefit. Read the full patch notes below.
Our favorite Russian Bodybuilder has some new outfits to show off
We’ve reached the final known hero available for gameplay previews, Zarya. Zarya is a tank hero who wields a Particle Cannon which unleashes a short-range beam of destructive energy. She can also use it to fire an explosive charge a short distance to damage multiple targets at once. Along with her cannon, Zarya is able to activate a personal shield which absorbs incoming damage and redirects its energy to empower her weapon. This shield can also be deployed on a friendly target to achieve the same result. Her Ultimate ability, called Gravitron Surge, allows her to launch a gravity bomb at a group of enemies. This bomb pulls enemies to its location, immobilizes them temporarily and deals damage while they are trapped. Check out the description and full gameplay preview video below. As with previous videos, you’ll want to watch in 1080p HD for the best viewing experience. Zarya guards
In an interview with Polygon, Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan talked somewhat more specifically about how the game rose from the ashes of the Titan project, but also how Blizzard’s current game offerings have had an impact on how it’s gone so far. Something that surprised me coming out of this article is how hard Kaplan is working to drive home the point that Overwatch is not just a piece of the intended Titan experience spun out into its own game, but instead something built from scratch that only took some design lessons learned by the Titan dev team. Another interesting note came from how the team is starting to consider the esports possibilities of the game. Kaplan tells a story about how the Overwatch QA team took funds intended for a party and instead threw an in-house tournament for the game. This was apparently a turning point in how Blizzard thought about the game, which then laid the
