Overwatch Animated Short #2 Inbound: “Alive”

by - 8 years ago

The second in a series of Overwatch animated shorts has got a release date of April 3rd, and this time it’ll be hosted on Playstation.com. This time, we’re focusing on Widowmaker on a job in King’s Row.

We’ve got a couple more hints about what might be involved here, based on some previous information, including the animated shorts teaser reel we saw at BlizzCon last year. We can probably expect Tracer to show up, and for us to get an answer to the question “do Tracer and Widowmaker have some kind of history?” That specific question, raised by their interaction during the original Overwatch cinematic, was also raised in a Q&A at BlizzCon this year, and either the Metzen or Overwatch story boss Michael Chu hinted that an answer would be forthcoming.

No guarantees, of course, except for this: Widowmaker is in King’s Row. Read the full post below.

Did our first animated short, “Recall,” leave you eager to explore more of the world of Overwatch? Well, get ready—three more are on the way! Next up: Alive.

“Alive” weaves a tale of Widowmaker, the peerless Talon assassin who stalks her prey with deadly efficiency. In this episode, we spend a fateful night in London’s King’s Row—where you’ll discover how one death can change everything.

Hehe! It was really fun to watch zen!! Seeing you damage your acolyte for more draws then finally getting that flamestrike on your next turn decimating all enemy minions was priceless! 🙂 Shame you didnt get to continue your arena run!

    Wth this guys sucks.

  4. Mario Krastanov says:

awesome top-decking skills; I wouldn’t want to play against you when I get into beta! 😀

  5. Aaron Cheng says:

Aha top-decking was probably one of the most humorous things that happened when I use to play MTG actively. Use to frustrate the crap out of my opponents especially in sealed/limited drafts.

  6. Nick says:

Topdecking is so exciting in hearthstone because with very few exceptions you’re usually picking up a minion or spell rather than peripheral things like extra resources. It’s not always what you need but at least it’s something… usually.

I had a run yesterday and don’t remember exactly what I was picking up (I think it was back to back Lord of the Arenas and Stormwind Champions). At any rate I managed to claw back board control from a hunter while I was at 2 health and he was at 30. I kept armoring up and he kept shooting the armor, but I got him a few rounds later! It was reminiscent of hull-tanking in Eve, your life hanging by a thread.

  7. Dustin McNab says:

I haven’t really been interested in playing Warlock, but I could see myself running a blood imp deck.

That was so close to being an epic comeback. As Nick said, topdecking in Hearthstone is a bit more exciting cause you know you won’t be drawing, say a land, like in MTG. I remember games of magic where I desperately needed a card, ANY card to help keep me alive and I’d just draw land after land.

I do like the Warlock’s ability to take 2 damage and draw a cad. Quite powerful if you’re not close to dying OR are just trying to use your resources before playing jaraxxus.

Ah how often have I seen a rogue fucking a streamer with a top-deck assassinate 🙂
