Scheduled Beta Maintenance and Patch Notes

Yesterday we had a new beta patch hit. This was a fairly minor patch that fixed some display bugs like showing yourself your own real name in the chat and when a player leaves or joins voice chat. The biggest change though is that Mei’s freezing effects will no longer stack, this is a good change as that ability with multiple players as Mei was entirely too powerful.

GENERAL:

  • Players will no longer see their own real name displayed whenever they speak in chat
  • BattleTag numeric IDs will no longer display in chat whenever a player joins or leaves Voice Chat
  • Made several additional improvements to matchmaking

HERO BALANCE CHANGES:

  • Mei
    • If multiple Meis are attacking the same target, their freeze effects will no longer stack

BUG FIXES:

  • Fixed an issue where some players weren’t able to use microphones with Voice Chat
  • Fixed several client-side crashes

Also, starting today Overwatch has a scheduled maintenance before it’s stress test weekend starts. Players should start receiving their emails sometime today and the game will be down for a little less than 24 hours. It will be back up on Friday to begin the super test.

In preparation for our upcoming Beta Test Weekend, we will be bringing down the Overwatch beta on Thursday, November 19 around 10:00 AM PST (7:00 PM CET) for scheduled maintenance. We expect this maintenance to last a little less than 24 hours and the beta to be available again on Friday, November 20 at approximately 9:00 AM PST (6:00 PM CET).
