If you attended Gamescom and were one of the winners of the Blizzard giveaway for it, then you got a pretty exciting email in your inbox. Basically winners were told to select what region they wanted, NA or EU and they needed to give a response before September 4th or they would be automatically flagged for Europe beta access. Of course, users turned to Reddit to share the emails they received.

So does this mean beta will come out September 4th? Absolutely not. First of all, Blizzard has stated the beta will be in Fall 2015. Fall does not even start officially until September 23rd. This does not mean these users will get access on September 4th either.

So, here’s a little secret – press/fansites are normally given some kind of access in the first wave of the beta. Almost every time there is a beta we’ll get an email similar to the ones these giveaway winners had received. We need to respond by a certain date to make sure we make it on the list of accounts that will be activated when beta hits. This normally happens anywhere from a week or several weeks before beta even occurs.

So, do not expect beta to hit September 4th. Do not expect beta to hit before September 23rd. After that though? It’s coming. If I was a betting man, I would say early to mid-October.

This email does prove that Blizzard is starting to really prepare beta to the public, so hold on tight folks, it will be here pretty soon!
