PC Gamer Highlights Overwatch

by - 9 years ago

This month’s edition of PC Gamer Magazine has Overwatch right on the cover with about 6 pages of information about the game.

I went out and grabbed a copy this morning to read through it hoping there would be new information revealed, unfortunately, it doesn’t appear to be the case. The 6 pages of the magazine dedicated to Overwatch goes over what the game was like at BlizzCon and basically goes over the same details we learned at BlizzCon. It does have some fun art though and if you’re into collecting magazines that highlight your favorite games this is a good pickup to get. The article is an interesting read so if you didn’t get all the info of what was said at BlizzCon they go over it well.

Some of the topics discussed with Chris Metzen and Jeff Kaplan:

  • Blizzard thinks the game could be an eSport, but is leaving that up to the community.
  • While Blizzard thinks it could be an eSport, it’s being built in a way to make everyone have their moment of glory in the game and not just the most skilled players.
  • Metzen hints at possibly more cinematics for Overwatch, he strongly hints at other forms of telling the story of the game without going into specifics.
  • No details on if the game will be free to play or what business model will be used for Overwatch,
  • The writer says the shooting lacked feedback and Reaper’s and Tracer’s guns were unsatisfying to use. There’s still a lot of stuff to happen here before they hit beta.
  • The writer did say that the abilities felt awesome and that the ultimate abilities were really fun and amazing.

Quite honestly, most of the article sounded like what was discussed during the press Q&A at BlizzCon. If you’re interested in watching that we have the full video here:
