New Title “Overwatch” Announced

by - 3 years ago

Overwatch, Blizzard Entertinament’s entirely new game and intellectual property (IP), was announced today at BlizzCon to an uproar of applause.

Game designer Jeffrey Kaplanas describes Overwatch as a “team-based, multiplayer shooter that is completely action-packed.” it appears to be a first-person action game including 12 playable characters with unique abilities and play styles.

For those of you keeping score at home, Overwatch is Blizzard Entertainment’s third new franchise in recent memory beside both Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm.

However, both of these franchises take existing game worlds and explore them in new genres. Overwatch will be the company’s first truly new and unique IP since Starcraft released in 1998.

Soldiers. Scientists. Adventurers. Oddities.

In a time of global crisis, an international task force of heroes banded together to restore peace to a war-torn world:

It ended the crisis and helped to maintain peace in the decades that followed, inspiring an era of exploration, innovation, and discovery. But after many years, Overwatch’s influence waned, and it was eventually disbanded.

Overwatch is gone… but the world still needs heroes.
