The Overwatch team posted a Developer Update with Jeff Kaplan this morning. In this informative 9-minute video, Jeff highlighted changes coming to Symmetra, an update on the newly announced Oasis Control map, and some social features. Symmetra: Has a choice of Ultimate. “Teleporter” Teleporter works just as it did before. “Shield Generator” The Shield Generator applies shields (more than previous) to allies in a large radius and ignores line of sight. Symmetra’s ability to apply shields to allies is being removed. “Photon Barrier” replaces her previous shield ability. The Photon Barrier is an elliptical shield that follows along a track. Symmetra can now stock 6 turrets (up from 3). The total amount of turrets she can have out at once is still the same. Weapon remains mostly unchanged, but Symmetra’s primary fire has had it’s range extended by a minor amount. These changes are coming “very soon” to the PTR. ...

Overwatch just released its first major patch since BlizzCon earlier this month and is live on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. This patch includes: The new offense-type hero, Sombra. The much-anticipated Arcade Mode featuring 1v1 and 3v3 death matches. Ecopoint: Antarctica – the new Arcade Mode map. Although it does not go live until December 1st, Season 3 of Competitive Play is also included in this patch. Balance changes and bug fixes. Players will be most excited to try out the game’s new hero and only the second new hero revealed since release. Sombra has the greater Overwatch community mostly excited about her strong kit including stealth, teleportation, and the ability to hack heroes and health packs. Q: When are we going to get a story mode that we can actually play through and get more background? A:Junkensteins revenge event was a test to kinda see if you were really interested in pve content instead of pvp like you are use to. We are definitely open to it. We have to find somewhere to fit it in. Q:Will there be a competitive 1v1 and 3v3? A:We want to kinda see what happens when you guys get your hands on the arcade and what directions you want those modes to go in. There made be rule tweeks needed first. Q:Are we going to get an animated short for every hero, particularly Mercy since we haven’t learned much about her since launch? A:I think it would be amazing if every hero got there own short.
